According to Hon Ikpamezie, Chief Iwuanyanwu before his demise on July 25, this year offered scholarships, built a blood bank and donated a library to the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN.

The lawmaker specifically mentioned the Iwuanyanwu Blood Transfusion Centre at Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri; Iwuanyanwu National Ambulance, Hulder Iwuanyanwu Orphanage Home Atta, Ikeduru Local Government Area; Hulder Iwuanyanwu Children's Library at the University of Nigeria Nsukka and donation of $2million some 40 years ago towards the construction of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri.

Hon Ikpamezie who chairs the House Committee on Environment also recalled that the deceased also offered scholarships to more than 10,000 students across the country, founded the Iwuanyanwu Nationale Football Club, Owerri which brought national and continental laurels to the country as well as offered employment to many becoming at a time the highest employer of labour in the Eastern Zone of the country.

Hon Ikpamezie further noted that Chief Iwuanyanwu besides sponsoring many people into different elective and appointive political positions used his position as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-political group to crusade for peace and an end to the marginalization of Ndigbo in Nigeria.

His motion which was co-sponsored by eight other members was overwhelmingly supported by lawmakers who were present at the plenary .

This necessitated the Speaker, Hon Chike Olemgbe to put the motion to vote and it was unanimously adopted.

The speaker had noted that Gov Uzodimma has already put the necessary machinery into motion to give the elder statesman a befitting burial on November 1, this year by raising a 155-man burial committee.

The House thereafter directed the Clerk, Barr. Chinelo Emeghara to communicate its resolution to the governor.
