Market Square in Yenagoa Shut Down Amidst Rape Scandal

The Ijaw National Council (IYC) has reportedly shut down the Market Square in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following a disturbing incident involving a policeman assigned to the supermarket.

According to Peres Ineife, the Central Zone Chairman of IYC, the officer allegedly raped an underage girl within the facility's premises.

"This was not a random act of violence; it occurred right inside the market square building," Ineife emphasized.

"We're not taking this lightly, and we won't stand idly by while our children are harmed."

The IYC chairman clarified that the shutdown wasn't taken lightly, ensuring that the organization isn't "mad people who will just shut down another man's business without reason".

The alleged rape has sparked widespread outrage and concern among the community, with many calling for justice and increased protection for vulnerable individuals.
