Minister Assures Nigerians Of Positive Impact From Tinubu's Reforms

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, has expressed optimism that the ongoing reforms spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu will soon alleviate the economic struggles faced by Nigerians. Speaking at a recent event on Tuesday, Salako urged citizens to remain patient and hopeful as the government works towards addressing the nation’s challenges.

Salako made these remarks during the distribution of subsidy removal palliatives and free medical services at the Omidokun Hall, in Ayetoro, the administrative center of Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State. The initiative aimed to provide immediate relief to residents, reflecting the government's commitment to supporting the most vulnerable segments of society during these challenging times.

At the event, the minister highlighted that the distribution of rice and fertilizers was one of the key actions taken to combat the ongoing food crisis exacerbated by the removal of fuel subsidies. "This is just one of the steps being taken by President Tinubu’s government to ensure that the difficulties we are facing today will not last long," Salako said, expressing hope for a better economic future. He assured attendees that the administration is determined to steer the country toward prosperity, despite the hardships many Nigerians are currently enduring.

In his address, Salako explained that a total of 1,300 bags of rice and 600 bags of fertilizers had been distributed across the five local government areas of Ogun West Senatorial District. These items were allocated to various community groups, including party members, market women, religious organizations, traditional rulers, and local leaders. The minister emphasized that 30% of the palliatives would go to party members, while the remainder would be shared among other important groups, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim communities, and individual community leaders.

"We have carefully organized this distribution to ensure fairness and to avoid the chaos that often accompanies such initiatives," Salako added. "We have taken steps to ensure that items are clearly labeled and designated for each beneficiary, and that the recipients are introduced to the drivers handling the distribution. This approach is aimed at maintaining orderliness and preventing any disturbances."

The minister also responded to President Tinubu’s Christmas message, which he said encouraged Nigerians to celebrate the festive season with joy and caution. "The president wants us to enjoy the holidays responsibly, stay safe, and continue to pray for the well-being of the nation," Salako said. "He remains confident that the country is on the path to recovery, and that with the reforms being implemented, the situation will improve for the better."
