Toyosi Etim-Effiong, wife of Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, recently opened up about how their marriage came to be, revealing that her husband chose to marry her because his previous girlfriend was not ready for marriage. Toyosi made the statement during an interview that has just surfaced online.
She explained; “The reason why he left the person he was with was because she said she wasn’t ready to settle down, but me, I was very ready.”
This candid admission has drawn considerable attention and sparked debates about the unique dynamics of their relationship.
The couple got married 7years ago, on the 4th of November 2017.
They first met in August 2016, while processing a project. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl in January 2019, and have since been blessed with 3 beautiful children.
They’ve grown together in love, faith, and so much laughter, and everytime they are seen, reminds us of their love story’s beginning, from that DM to a lifetime together.
The couple, who have often shared personal insights about their marriage, were in the news recently when Daniel admitted that he initially struggled with setting boundaries, which created chaos in the early days of their union. Toyosi, on her part, revealed that she does not fully trust her husband, admitting that she does not trust anyone one hundred percent.
The revelation about their unconventional relationship dynamics has sparked mixed reactions online. Social media users have been sharing their opinions, with some interpreting Toyosi’s statement as implying that Daniel married her out of convenience rather than love.
One commenter, Omololad, wrote, “So he didn’t marry you for love? You were the fallback plan, no wonder!” Another, using the handle Theella_space, remarked sarcastically, “This woman and her trophy husband again.” Dekinggideon added, “When the desirable is not available, the available becomes the desirable.” Similarly, Portharcourtmarket commented, “Which means he married you for marriage’s sake, not because you’re the one he truly loves? Okay, we hear you!”
Despite the online reactions, the couple’s honesty about their challenges and relationship dynamics continues to generate interest and discussions about marriage, love, and readiness for commitment. By sharing their story, the Etim-Effiongs have sparked a broader conversation about the realities and complexities of relationships in today’s society.
