Police Reunite Rescued Stolen Kids With Families


The Imo State Police Command has disclosed that it has successfully reunited with their families three children who were rescued from a suspected trafficker.


The command also informed that it arrested the suspected trafficker who is at present cooling her ass in its gulag.


Making the disclosures in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO in the state ASP Henry Okoye, the police said the 36-year-old female suspect was arrested at the popular Ama JK opposite the Owerri Municipal Council headquarters.


The police further revealed that the children were stolen from Anambra State and ferried to Imo State.


The police spokesman equally claimed that the woman has confessed to her involvement in child trafficking.


According to the police, she also confessed working with a syndicate based in Onitsha.


The statement reads; "Operatives of the Imo State Police Command's Quick Intervention Unit have arrested a 36-year-old woman suspected of child trafficking and rescued three children she had stolen in Anambra State. 


"The arrest followed a thorough investigation and intelligence-driven operation conducted on 20th November 2024 in Ama JK Owerri. The children have since been safely reunited with their families.


"On interrogation , the suspect confessed to her involvement in child trafficking, revealing that she works with a syndicate based in Onitsha, to whom she sells stolen children.


"She further explained that her primary targets are children of unsuspecting parents in both Anambra and Imo States.


"Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate still at large. The suspect will be charged in court once the investigation is completed".


Recall that on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, a newspaper sales representative, Nnmso Udoka Okoro escaped from the hands of operators of 'One Chance' vehicle in Owerri.


According to Okoro, he had boarded the vehicle at Rotibi Street by Douglas Road to Warehouse junction along Owerri-Orlu Road.


He said on reaching Warehouse junction the driver of the vehicle refused him alighting from the bus as he continued the journey in spite of informing him of having reached his destination.


Okoro disclosed that he pounced on the driver and began to drag the steering wheel while the three other occupants who were the driver's partners-in-crime began hitting him from behind.


The circulation executive said he didn't succumbed to the beating till they pushed him out of the bus and flung through the window copies of the newspaper he was conveying to deliver to a client.
