One of the goal scorers in Nembe City's 2-0 victory over Fantuo FC, Clement Bruno has vowed that his team will lift the trophy of this year's Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament.

Bruno, whose team, Nembe City FC were 0-3 losers to Ogboinbiri FC of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area last year, is hoping that they will go a step further this year to clinch the cup and the N10 million prize money.

According to him, "I am so happy and I thank God for the victory. Thanks to our coach and my fellow players. I say a big congratulations to our team for qualifying for the next round. I believe we can win the trophy. I see our performance as good enough to take us very far. The strength of our team is the togetherness and oneness of purpose. For us, it will be fight to finish till we get there. We will take every match as if it is the final. The players are in top shape and in high spirits".

In other matches played so far, Okoroba FC triumphed over Etie FC 7-6 on penalities after scores stalemated at 1-1 after regulation time. Samuel David put Etie FC ahead in the 57th minute from a long range effort but the Okoroba FC side restored parity in the 88th minute with a goal from Benjamin Okatubo from the spot.

On Saturday, March 8th at the Sangana Centre in Brass Local Government Area, Santana FC defeated Blue Sea Strikers 2-0 with the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere taking the ceremonial kick off.

Substitute, George Super wrote his name in the record books as he netted the first brace of Season Seven of the tournament with goals in the 66th and 77th minutes of play, ensuring that his Sangana FC side advance to the next round of the competition. In the second game at the Sangana Centre, Kamatoru FC defeated Ogidi United by two goals to nil.

Action will resume this weekend in the tournament at the Ekeremor and Sagbama centres.
