The Chairman of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, Justice Adolphus Enebeli retired, says the state's October 5, Local Government Election is sacrosanct.
Justice Enebeli said this during a two-day training of Master Trainers of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission Staff in Port Harcourt.
He said that no judgment from any court in the country is stopping RSIEC from conducting the local government elections in Rivers State.
Justice Adolphus Enebeli, however, said that the training for the Electoral Officers and Assistant Electoral Officers would ensure the integrity of the commission and the elections.
He assured that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission would conduct a transparent, free, fair, and credible election during the local government council polls.
He further announced that 18 political parties out of 19 registered parties will contest the state's election.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State, under the leadership of Tony Okocha is insisting that the planned October 5 LG election is illegal.

Tony Okocha during the briefing said that an existing interim order of a federal high court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC not to release the Voter Register to RSIEC
He said the court also barred the Police from participating in the LG elections.
Tony Okocha also said that the state government would be acting against the law if it insisted on conducting the elections.
In another development, Tony Okocha, also clarified that the Martins Amaehule-led state lawmakers are not members of the APC.
He cited several court rulings and judgments which affirmed that the 27 lawmakers led by Martin Amaehule are valid members of the State House of Assembly
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in Rivers State, Okocha also congratulated Monday Okpebholo over his victory at the Edo Governorship election.
He said that the APC victory in Edo State is a testament to the party’s acceptance and popularity in the country.
He also expressed optimism in the ability of Monday Okpebholo to transform Edo State into an economic hub in the country.
