Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to host his first Council of Meeting today at the executive council chamber of the presidential villa in Abuja.
The meeting is the first since the present government began its administration in 2023 which is 18 months after the last one was held during former president Muhammadu Buhari 's administration in February, 10 2023.
The meeting will include all former presidents, heads of state, former chief justices of Nigeria, president of the senate, speaker of the house of representatives, governors, and attorney-general of the federation (AGF) .
President Tinubu is expected to chair the Council of State meeting along side his vice who acts as the the deputy Chair.
The National Council of State in Nigeria is a constitutional organ of the government that is bestowed with the responsibility of providing advisory roles to the executive arm of the State on policy-making and others.
It was gathered that the meeting will focus on the recent #NationwideHardship and #EndBadGovernance protests, the Economic State of the Nation, National Security and other glaring issues facing the country.
The Punch reports that Tinubu and his team of Stakeholders would focus on seven crucial matters adding that the President would make presentations tagged “The Nationwide Protest as it Affects National Security and the State of the Economy.”.

“The President will present seven key areas, such as the nationwide protest as it affects national security, the state of the economy, food security, availability and affordability—that one is in the agric sector—consolidating the gains in the solid minerals sector. Then he will also talk about renewed hope in budgeting and planning for sustained development, renewed hope in the road sector, and leading a strong industrial base for transformation and growth.” Punch had Quoted a source.
Meanwhile, Following nationwide hunger protests, prices of cooking gas and food items in Kaduna State are on the rise, according to a report by News Agency of Nigeria. Prices of provisions, grains, and other staple food items continue to rise in markets and shops.
It was learnt that Prices of goods such as provisions, grains and other staple food items are rising steadily in markets and shops across the board.
From indications, prices of food items such as Yams, Garri (Cassava flakes) rice, beans had gone up about the fourth time in 2024 alone.
