Abia Gov meets Eno, Pledges Collaboration To Fix Link Roads

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti and his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Umo Eno have agreed to work together in repairing the roads that connect them, as part of their efforts to enhance economic cooperation between their communities.

This decision was reached during Governor Otti’s condolence visit to Governor Eno in Uyo, following the passing of First Lady, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Eno.

Eno expressed gratitude on behalf of his family and the people of Akwa Ibom for the heartfelt condolences and support shown during their time of grief. He especially appreciated the personal visit, despite logistical challenges, noting that the kindness extended has been a source of strength.

Eno stated that, although the late First Lady’s life was brief, she made a lasting impact, leaving behind legacies that will be remembered forever.

He mentioned that appointing his eldest daughter, Mrs. Helen Obareki, who was the late First Lady’s closest assistant, to oversee the activities of her office is a measure aimed at preserving and continuing her inspiring visions.

“We want to express our deep gratitude, Sir, not only for your visit but also for the calls and encouragement. As I’ve shared with others, losing my wife is a loss that will last a lifetime. We dated for two years and were married for 38, making it a forty-year journey that is impossible to forget. It feels as if half of me is gone.

“However, she was a remarkable woman who left her mark, joined me in leading our ministry, and excelled in guiding women and strengthening families,” he said.

Eno affirmed his willingness to collaborate with the Abia State Government in urging the Federal Government to speed up intervention on the Ikot Ekpene-Aba Road, repair damaged sections of the Ini-Arochukwu Road, and take further steps to improve key economic routes linking the two states.

“For the road you’ve mentioned, if there are other roads we can work on together as neighboring states, we’re ready to partner. We can assess these roads and find ways to collaborate, as ultimately, it’s our communities that will benefit from improved access,” he stated.

“Aba remains a vital commercial hub for our entire region, and I will do everything possible to ensure that our people have smooth access to and from Aba,” Governor Eno stated.

Earlier, Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti offered condolences on behalf of the government and people of Abia State to Governor Eno, his family, and the people of Akwa Ibom over the loss of the First Lady. He noted that her widely recognized impactful life speaks volumes, making her passing a profound loss, and he prayed for God’s comfort for the family and peace for her soul.

Governor Otti also commended the visible outcomes of good governance in Akwa Ibom and encouraged Governor Eno to continue his community-centered projects and programs. He assured him of Abia’s support, as Akwa Ibom’s closest neighbor, in efforts to repair the roads linking the two states for the socio-economic benefit of residents in both regions.
