A tricycle(keke) operator, Amadi Alozie has killed his mother in Umudosi community, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, while she was attempting to protect her grandson from a suspected ritual attack by his father.
Reports indicate that the trouble for the deceased woman began around 10 p.m. when she attempted to save her grandson from his father, who had severed the boy's genitalia in what is suspected to be a ritualistic attack.
Further information revealed that, Alozie had attacked his son, severing the boy's genitalia. The boy's agonized scream drew the attention of his grandmother.
Enraged that his mother had disrupted his plan, the tricycle rider attacked her with a machete, resulting in her death before neighbors could step in. The violent outburst occurred swiftly, leaving no time for anyone to prevent the tragic outcome.
Unfortunately for him, he received his comeuppance when he fell into a pit while trying to escape the scene. His attempt to flee ended in misfortune, leading to his capture and end to his escape effort.
Neighbors were able to rescue the injured son, who lost his genitalia in the attack. He is now fighting for his life at the hospital where he was taken. The severity of his injuries has put him in a critical condition, and his survival is currently uncertain as he receives medical treatment.
The distressing turn of events has left the community in a state of confusion, grappling with the reasons behind the young man's involvement in these crime. The shocking nature of the situation has prompted widespread speculation and concern, as residents try to piece together what factors might have led him down this path.
The community is deeply unsettled, seeking answers to understand the motives and circumstances that contributed to the young man's actions.

When reached for comment, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Public Relations Officer of Abia State Police Command, stated that they received reports at the Eastern Ngwa Divisional Headquarters. Adding that, the victim has been taken to the hospital, the suspect is in custody, and an investigation is underway.
