The Lawmaker representing Aba North State Constituency, Aaron Uzodike, who was recently sworn-in as a member of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, has addressed speculations regarding his alleged intention to join the ruling Labour Party (LP) in the state.
In an interview with newsmen on Thursday, the lawmaker denied having any agreement with the state government to
transition to the Labour Party (LP). He denied entering any agreement to defect from PDP upon his inauguration.
“I don’t see any reason why politicians should be defecting to other parties; they are all moving there to pursue their own interests, primarily to secure a ticket for an election."
"For me, the most crucial thing is to excel in the role I have been given, so that if the Labour Party evaluates my performance,
and sees me as effective, they will call me to come and contest an election because people are happy with me.”
Uzodike said.
The lawmaker also stated that it is not time for defection and that his current focus is on excelling in his role at the House to benefit his constituents. He explained that his inauguration was unexpected, as he did not receive any prior notice about the event.
“On reaching the Assembly, I thought it was something else that I was invited for. It came as a surprise to
me,” he said..
Also recall, that the Abia state PDP has called for the release of Uzodike’s entitlements from he time he was declared the elected lawmaker to represent Aba North while also describing the inauguration as a "significant milestone to the country's democracy's journey to perfection".
