Bayelsa Queens Tear Adamawa Queens Apart With a 3-0 Win

Bayelsa Queens FC on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 over-ran hapless Adamawa Queens by three goals to nil to retain top spot in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) B Table with 10 points after four matches.

This resounding victory is coming on the heels of a 5-1 bashing of Benue Queens after another five star performance at the Lafia Township Stadium, Lafia in a Match Day 3 fixture last week Wednesday.

Bayelsa Queens coach, Whyte Ogbonda made a whopping six changes to the team that defeated Benue Queens. Only Vera Samuel, Aderemi Mary, Jennifer Oliver, Florence Alexander and Chinwe Akabike retained their positions from last week's team.

After a good start from both sides it was the home side that drew first blood as they prised open the defence of their opponents with a goal from Vera Samuel in the 28th minute of play. Recall that Vera was equally on song last week.

Debutant Cynthia Mega made it two for the home side in the 39th minute of the game. The second goal doused whatever tension there may have been amongst the home fans as the visitors were making a few incursion into the vital areas of the Prosperity Girls.

A few minutes after resumption for the second stanza, Coach Ogbonda made a triple substitution to introduce fresh legs into the game. The trio of Rose Ekong, Kindness Ifeanyi and Delight Isaac came in for Precious Oscar, Chinwe Akabike and Uduakabong Monday.

After a couple of missed chances, the home side sealed the game and put the match beyond the visitors in the 80th minute, when Rose Ekong tapped into an empty net from a cross from Kindness Ifeanyi for the third goal of the encounter.

Adamawa Queens, were a shadow of themselves especially after their heart-warming result against Delta Queens in their last game as they allowed the home team dominate, and dictate the pace of the game.

Speaking after the game, an elated Coach Whyte Ogbonda said he was thrilled with the win, but was unimpressed with the performance of his players as they threw away so many glaring chances. He promised to go back to the drawing board with a view to making amends in their next game.

On her part, coach of Adamawa Queens, Dadeino Heman, said her wards are grassroot players, adding that she was satisfied with their performance for them to have conceded only three goals, playing a good side as Bayelsa Queens.

High-flying Bayelsa Queens will have the darling girls of Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels to contend with in their next match at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt in what promises to be an exciting encounter between the two table toppers.
