Police Condemns Arson At NOUN Study Centre in Imo

The Imo State Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma has condemned the arson perpetrated on Monday night at the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN Study Centre at Nsu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

Reports said the study centre was set ablaze by hoodlums as indigenes of the community were sleeping away their cares and sorrows.

The home of the Senator Frank Ibezim is reported to have also been similarly torched ostensibly by same urchins by wreaked havoc at the NOUN Centre.

CP Danjuma described the arson as senseless and unwarranted.

The CP said; "This unfortunate incident reflects a disturbing trend of violence that undermines the safety and security of our communities. The Command stands firmly against such acts and will take all necessary measures in synergy with other security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

CP Danjuma disclosed of the deployment of the Command’s Tactical Unit to identify and apprehend those responsible for the act of arson.

The Commissioner of Police said he has also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident.

He emphasized that no individual involved in this attack will escape the full legal consequences, as the police are committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served.

CP Danjuma urged the public to refrain from spreading fake news or making inciting statements that could destabilize the current peace in the state.

He warned that anyone found guilty of perpetuating false information will face strict consequences.

He added; "The police in synergy with other security agencies are dedicated to maintaining peace and order, and we encourage citizens to cooperate with law enforcement efforts to safeguard our communities".

Meanwhile, a group, Biafra Liberation Army, BLA, says it has vanished former Minister of State for Education, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba and his entire family members from Igboland.

In a viral video, a man who claimed to be speaking for the BLA described Nwajiuba as a Fulani stooge who attracted a terrorists' Camp to Biafra land.

TVC had reported recently that the Federal Government would establish a camp at NOUN Study Centre at Nsu for training of Internally Displaced Persons, Migrants and Asylum seekers.

Imo State went aghast since the video of TVC report went viral with many not ready to listen to the explanation that the envisaged camp at the facility would be for skills acquisition.
