Bayelsa Works Commissioner Lauds SWAN on Unity

In furtherance of its avowed commitment to building bridges of partnership, the leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bayelsa State Chapter paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, ESV Moses Teibowei.

The sports writers were led by their Chairperson, Comrade Timinepre Ohia.

In her opening remarks, the Chairperson commended the works and infrastructure Commissioner for his doggedness in translating the visions of the Governor into concrete reality through the numerous on-going projects in the state.

Noting that the commissioner is a major stakeholder in the sports industry, she expressed her appreciation to him on behalf of the SWAN for his role in uniting the association before its last elective congress.

Ahead of this year's SWAN week, Mrs Ohia solicited the support of the Ministry to enable the association put up a befitting programme. She also sought support for other programmes and projects that might be organized by the association.

Comrade Ohia said the visits to stakeholders was to build bridges of partnership with critical stakeholders with a view to taking the business of sports reportage in the state to the next level.

After reviewing the Commissioner's role as a sports stakeholder in the state, SWAN Bayelsa offered to make him one of its Patrons; a position which will be conferred on him during the SWAN Week.

Mrs Ohia, while congratulating the commissioner on his re-appointment as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure by Governor Douye Diri, described him as a round peg in a round hole.

Responding, the Works and Infrastructure Commissioner, Esv. Moses Teibowei congratulated the association for amicably resolving its crisis and uniting themselves as one, indivisible body, urging them to remain united, so that a lot can be achieved.

While congratulating them on their successful elections, the one-time Chairman of Bayelsa United Football Club, accepted the offer to be a Patron of the association, and pledged to support the body whenever the need arises.

Present at the meeting was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Mr Johnson Dagana, who doubles as the National President, Super Eagles Supporters Club.

The solidarity visit to the Works and Infrastructure Commissioner is coming on the heels of similar solidarity visits to other stakeholders, notably the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, Director of Sports, Sir Braveman Wodi and the Business Manager, Silverbird/Rhythm FM, Mr Oyins Egrenbido.
