UNIBEN Names Professor Edoba Omoregie New Vice-Chancellor

The University of Benin has just appointed Professor Edoba Omoregie, an expert in constitutional law and governance, as its new Vice-Chancellor.

The announcement was made by Professor Shaibu Umaru, Chairman of the Governing Council, on Friday in Benin.

Furthermore, Omoregie was selected as the 11th Vice-Chancellor from 27 candidates who applied for the role.

However, the new Vice-Chancellor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he will take over from the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lillian Salami, whose term ends on December 1.

Born on April 5, 1969, Professor Omoregie hails from Benin and completed all his degrees at the University of Benin.

Meanwhile, the new Vice-chancellor was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and was reportedly conferred the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2021.
