Supervisors in Bomadi Local Government Council of Delta State have been charged to work diligently and uphold the principles of transparency, accountability and inclusivity.
Chairman of the Council, Honourable Andaye Dagidi gave the charge while swearing-in five supervisors to constitute the Executive arm of the council.
While giving his charge during the swearing-in ceremony, done in pursuant to the Delta State Local Government Law 2017 (as amended), Hon. Dagidi urged the supervisors to take their responsibilities very seriously and focus on piloting the affairs of the council area effectively to achieve the set goals of the administration.
According to Dagidi, "I urge you to take your responsibilities very seriously, focusing on achieving our administration's goals. I charge you to work diligently, upholding the principles of transparency, accountability and inclusivity as we strive to make Bomadi Local Government Area a model of excellence and development”.
Noting that the ceremony marks a crucial step in his administration's efforts to enhance governance and development in the council area, Dagidi stressed that the appointments and subsequent swearing-in of the supervisors would culminate in the successful administration of the council area.
He said: "The swearing in of the supervisors marks a crucial step in our administration's efforts to enhance governance and development in our local government area.
"This will facilitate effective governance aligning with the policy thrust of my administration, which prioritizes community-based and inclusive initiatives, reinforcing the state government's M.O.R.E Agenda in Bomadi Local Government Area.
"You can recall that on August 18, 2024, I inaugurated the elected Councillors, who now constitute the Legislative Arm of the local government council. Today, with your inauguration, we have taken a major step towards actualizing the proper composition of the Executive Arm of the local government council.
"This synergy between the legislature and the executive will drive our administration's lofty goals, ultimately impacting the socio-economic well-being of our people.
The council boss enjoined the staff of the council to give the necessary support and cooperation to supervisors, adding that their experience will come in handy if the administration must succeed.
He said, "I also call on the local government staff to extend their support and cooperation to them, as your experience and guidance are crucial in navigating challenges and ensuring success of our administration".
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Hon.Dandy Mulade, thanked the council chairman, Hon. Dagidi for giving them the opportunity to serve and pledged to work in unison to achieve the administration's set goals. He equally assured Dagidi that they would not betray the confidence reposed in them.
The newly-sworn-in supervisors and their portfolios are Hon. Dandy Mulade who is to take charge of Agriculture & Natural Resources, Mr Ekiyor Barber, saddled with the responsibility of overseeing Education, Youth and Sports and Hon. Okubo Febugha, superintends the Community and Social Development sector of the council.
The others are Hon. Adaka Amameniye (Health) and Mr Timipre Dauebimone who is in charge of Works and Housing. The Vice Chairman of council, Mrs Poweide Bekes, was appointed to take charge of the Environment Department.
The brief but colourful ceremony, which took place at the Council's Conference Hall, Council Secretariat, Bomadi, was attended by leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as stakeholders and well-wishers from various communities in the local government area.
