Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha of the Radio Bayelsa Chapel has emerged as the new chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council.
In the keenly contested battle held at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Yemoleigha of Team Better Together defeated Ogio Ipigansi of Team Peace by 213 to 206 votes.
Five candidates emerged from the camp of Team Better Together while two succeeded from the fold of Team Peace.
The election generated so much interest like never before in the 28-year-old history of NUJ in Bayelsa State.
Tonye Yemoleigha is taking over from Comrade Samuel Numonengi, who served two tenures.
