City’s Nathan Ake Stretchered Off In Clash Against Germany

Manchester City star Nathan Ake was stretchered off in pain during the Netherlands' UEFA Nations League game against Germany and appeared on the verge of tears, last night.

Ake made way for Jurrien Timber just before half-time of the Orange’s 2-2 draw with their NL opponent Germany, after suffering what looked like a hamstring injury.

Team-mate Cody Gakpo was seen waving frantically for a stretcher, after it became obvious that the defender could no longer continue.

The Man City defender is the latest Premier League star to suffer injury during the September international break. Title rivals, Arsenal are also sweating on two players Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard and Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori.

Manchester City’s coach, Pep Guardiola, and his staff will be facing an anxious wait to ascertain the extent of Ake's injury.

The Premier League match between Manchester City and Brentford will be coming up on Saturday, while they will be up against Arsenal on September 22.

Tijani Reinders aided the Netherlands in taking early lead against Germany, only for Deniz Undav to equalize. Joshua Kimmich made efforts to put the visitors in front in the first-half stoppage-time, but Denzel Dumfries brought Ronald Koeman's team back level.

One of the Premier League defenders made a mistake after which Undav netted a goal, with Matthijs De Ligt giving the ball away to set up a German attack.

Though the Netherlands still beat Bosnia, and Herzegovina in the first part of their September double-header, De Ligt acknowledged his error when he spoke in an interview saying: "I should have done better at their second goal, and I know that. I don't really know what happened. I should have cleared the ball but I kept having doubts during the play".

Holland coach, Ronald Koeman also spoke about Ake’s Injury saying: "It looks like a muscle injury for Nathan, though I am not certain."

However, Ake’s injury concern comes as Manchester City prepare to go into a busy autumn, having a Champions League clash against Inter Milan which comes in between their next two league fixtures.

Arsenal is busy with similar issues as the team waits over captain Odegaard after his ankle injury against Austria.

Norway manager, Stale Solbakken when asked about Odegaard’s injury, said: “It looked bad in the dressing room too. He didn't have the nerve to continue. It is not certain that (Mikel) Arteta will call me tonight and praise me."
