Edo Election 2024: What God Can't do Doesn't Exist-Oshiomole

Adams Oshiomole, Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District and former governor of Edo State has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the Edo State 2024 gubernatorial election.


On Sunday, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Winner in the just concluded governorship election.


Oshiomole, a strong member of the APC and a major stakeholder in the Edo Election while speaking with journalists after the results were announced beamed with joy and boastfuly said ''everything and anything God cannot do does not exist.''


The Senator has been a major champion of Okpebholo's emergence as APC governorship candidate and his victory in the highly contested race.


He said "Listen very well, Everything and anything that God cannot do does not exist and that is why when ordinary men and women boast of their power those with wisdom know that power resides only with God.


"And those who win with undivided hearts are only the few that God has so anointed and that is why when some people say election is a do or die, we say no. It's about choice, it's about the power of the ordinary citizen to hire and fire people who sign death sentence .


"And now today, God by his infinite and Mighty power has decreed Senator Monday Akpatomeiza Alias Akpako rescue to make up for the 8 years of disaster of Obaseki and Asue together."


He added: "First we give all the thanks to God almighty that we did all those campaigns without casualties that we did all those campaigns without any allegations against the candidate and any one of us, for visiting violence on anyone. Even when they planned they did succeed in killing the bodyguard in order to frighten him. God said my son whom i have anointed will not be frightened ".


The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced the results at the Collation Centre in Benin City , the State Capital.


According to INEC, the results are from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state

Okpebholo, maintained lead in the results declared and was closely followed by Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party. Labour Party was behind the PDP clutching the third position.


17 parties participated in the election with the aim of taking over the reins of leadership from incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki whose tenure ends in November.

Meanwhile, the election was closely contested by intense rivalry among three top contenders: Asue Ighodalo of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP).
