Edo Election 2024:Blue Economy, Our Path To Growth -Ighodalo

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has urged the electorate in the state to elect Asue Ighodalo, of the Peoples Democratic Party, as their candidate in the September 21 governorship election, noting that he is not a “push-and-start” candidate.

Obaseki, who made this point at the campaign ground at the Ogbaki Primary School in Agenebode, headquarters of Etsako East Local Government Area, asserted that Edo required a capable hand to manage its operations.

He stated that the current level of suffering in Nigeria caused by the policies of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government means that Edo State would be diserviced by electing someone who is grossly incompetent and incapable of managing the state.

Obaseki stated his preference for Ighodalo to take over the good government that he had already established in Edo State.

“Asue Ighodalo is not a ‘push-and-start’ candidate. The state needs competent hands to pilot its affair, given the level of suffering currently ravaging Nigeria.

“So, it will be a big disservice to the state to elect somebody who is grossly incompetent and incapable of managing it. Edo is already enjoying good governance and that is why I brought Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie to continue the good work I am doing,” Obaseki said.

He assured the people that the foundation ceremony for the School of Agriculture (Fishery and Aqua Culture), which had been laid, would continue with Ighodalo, if elected the next governor.

In his remarks, Ighodalo expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support towards his candidacy and the party, and vowed to finish all current projects and more.

The PDP candidate stated that his goal is to increase wealth for the people in the riverine zone between Illushi in Esan South-East and Agenebode along the River Niger by leveraging on the region’s blue economy potential.

He charged the crowd to come out en masse on September 21 to vote for the umbrella party, stating that the development of Edo state remains top on the agenda for the PDP.

The Chairman of the Edo PDP, Tony Aziegbemi, expressed gratitude to the people for their aid and received a large number of defecting members from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
