An ex-agitator under the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Tam Odogwu, has emerged the chairman of the Peoples Democratic party (P D P) in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Odogwu, a two-time House of Assembly aspirant in Burutu Constituency 2 and a member of the third phase of the amnesty programme, was elected in a peaceful congress of the party.
The new Burutu PDP chairman, who has since been sworn in, bagged a doctorate degree from Igbinedion University, Okada, in Edo State in 2022 under the scholarship scheme of the amnesty programme.
Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Tuomo Clan has congratulated Odogwu on his emergence as the Burutu P D P boss, saying his victory is a well deserved one.
The IYC said Odogwu's loyalty and his commitment to the party has been outstanding and consistent, adding that he is the right man to lead the P D P in the area at the moment and wished him well in his new office.
"It is a thing of joy, we had the rare privilege to celebrate an outstanding youth leader, Kindhearted humanitarian and philanthropist from the Ancient Tuomo Clan on his well deserved victory", the IYC said in a statement.
Also, a group, Tuomo-Ebe Progressive Youth Movement, congratulated Odogwu on his successful swearing in as chairman of the P D P in Burutu LGA.
The group in a statement signed by Johnny Faith Tamaraulaye, the coordinator; Pereotubo Sunny, Secretary and Eteku Abuja, the Public Relations Officer, the group expressed confidence in Odogwu to deliver on his new job.
It said: "It is a great joy in our hearts for finding a worthy son of ancient Esuku-Ebe, Tuomo kingdom as the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party P D P, Burutu LGA.
"We also used this medium to thank His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborovwori, executive Governor of Delta State for giving us a great opportunity, we are indeed grateful and he will move with your M.O.R.E Agenda.
"We strongly believe that the best has come to us, and our dear leader Tam Godspower Odogwu will not fail the party and entire Burutu LGA and the Delta State at large."
