The Football Association, FA, on Monday revealed that they were investigating the allegations on Preston North End forward, Milutin Osmajic who bit Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck during their Championship match on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Osmajic is likely to face a lengthy ban after allegedly biting Beck during their Lancashire derby against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
The incident which occurred as the players tussled after on-loan Liverpool forward, Beck was sent off for kicking out at an opponent in the 89th minute of the goalless draw.
However, Beck furiously protested to referee Matthew Donohue that he had been bitten. Osmajic received a yellow card following the incident.
Meanwhile, as observed by our correspondent on a verified X (formerly twitter) handle, @AttackingFooty, the video clip showing the alleged incident was posted with the caption: “Oh no. Preston North End’s Milutin Osmajic appears to bite Blackburn’s Owen Beck…”
“Beck was sent off for a tackle that led to this moment, and told the ref he had bite marks.
“Osmajic remained on pitch,” the caption ended.
Furthermore, the FA in an e-mailed statement, said: "We're aware of this incident and will be looking into it."
Previously, the FA in 2013, banned Luis Suarez for 10 matches after the Liverpool forward bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
On the other hand, Blackburn Manager John Eustace speaking in an interview, said: "Owen's got a big bite mark on the back of his neck and it's a shame the referee didn't see that.”
"It's a very serious incident, nobody likes to be bitten. Everyone is angry about it. It's not a nice situation to be in. I'm sure the right people will see it and deal with it," Coach Eustace added.
"Everyone's angry about it. It's not a nice situation to be in. I'm sure the right people will see it and we'll take it from there,” he remarked.
"It's a local derby, there's blood and thunder and bodies on the line.
"Those [Greenwood's red card] are the challenges that you expect to see in a local derby. They'll be disappointed their lad's been sent off and we will be having a man sent off.”
Still on the alleged incident, Preston Head coach, Paul Heckingbottom said he had not seen the incident.
"All I can say is that there is no place for that and we know we can’t do that," Heckingbottom added.
"Mis-timed tackles, things like that are part and parcel of the game, you accept them. Anything that is not, we know how that’s dealt with."
"I think the decisions are pretty easy ones. If that's going to be a red then no problem," he remarked.
