Gov Fubara Reaffirms Partnership With Quantity Surveyors In Infrastructure Dev

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with quantity surveyors to drive infrastructure development in the state. This assurance was made during a courtesy visit by the national executive of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), led by its President, Kene Nzekwe, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

The meeting, which was part of the institute's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and national conference, held under the theme “Strengthening the Quantity Surveying Practices and Processes for Growth and Sustainability in a Turbulent Economy,” allowed for an in-depth discussion on the role of quantity surveyors in modern governance and development.

Governor Fubara emphasized that his administration will continue to partner with quantity surveyors in executing infrastructure projects across the state. He underscored the importance of professional oversight in construction and development, stating that the collaboration would ensure quality and sustainable growth for Rivers State. “Quantity surveyors are integral to ensuring that infrastructure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards,” Fubara remarked.

Further, the Governor assured that the state government would prioritize the professional development of quantity surveyors in the Rivers State Civil Service. He vowed to ensure that state-employed surveyors receive the necessary training and certifications to compete effectively both locally and internationally. This initiative, according to Governor Fubara, would enhance their skills and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the state’s infrastructural progress.

In addition, the Governor praised the leadership and members of the NIQS for their consistent contributions to the growth of the state and the nation at large. He commended them for their professionalism, urging them to continue to uphold high ethical standards and contribute positively to the public’s confidence in the construction industry. Fubara noted that with careful adherence to due process, his government has achieved success in delivering projects with minimal failures.

The Governor also reassured the leadership of the NIQS of the state's continued hospitality and support, promising an enabling environment for the successful hosting of the AGM and the national conference. His remarks reflected his strong belief in the value of professional collaboration and his administration's openness to engaging experts to achieve effective service delivery.

President of the NIQS, Kene Nzekwe, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Fubara for the warm reception and hospitality extended to the institute's national executives. In his address, Nzekwe acknowledged the Governor’s ongoing efforts in transforming Rivers State, particularly citing major infrastructure projects such as the Port Harcourt Ring Road. “The magnitude of this project, which spans six local government areas, is a testament to the Governor’s vision for expansive development across the state,” Nzekwe said.

Nzekwe also commended the Governor for his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure in various sectors, including roads, health, and education. He highlighted the increase in the state’s internally generated revenue as another positive indicator of Governor Fubara's effective governance. “These accomplishments are clear evidence of the state’s continued growth under your leadership,” he said.

He further assured the Governor and the people of Rivers State of the institute’s commitment to working closely with the state government to ensure the successful delivery of projects. Nzekwe emphasized that quantity surveyors would continue to play a critical role in supporting the state’s developmental goals, ensuring that projects are executed to the highest standards.

In conclusion, the collaboration between the Rivers State Government and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is set to enhance the delivery of key infrastructure projects that will drive growth, sustainability, and economic development in the state. With this partnership, the Governor’s administration is poised to continue its transformative work, making Rivers State a leading example of effective governance and professional engagement in the region.
