Gov Fubara to Deliver Omoku, Bori Zonal Hospitals In December

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has made a bold commitment to the people of Rivers, announcing that his administration is on track to complete and deliver the Omoku and Bori Zonal Hospitals by December 2024. This assurance comes amidst mounting political opposition that has recently put his administration under intense pressure, with rivals attempting to derail some of the governor’s key projects. However, Fubara insists that these challenges will not impede his administration’s drive to deliver high-quality, accessible healthcare to every corner of Rivers State.

Governor Fubara’s latest statement was delivered during his inspection of the Omoku Zonal Hospital site in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, where he was joined by Commissioner for Health Dr. Adaeze Oreh. Touring the expansive construction site, Fubara expressed satisfaction with the progress so far, commending the health commissioner and construction teams for their dedication and commitment to the ambitious project timelines.

“We are committed to seeing that these hospitals become functional by December 2024, no matter the obstacles,” Governor Fubara stated. “This is a priority for my administration. Our citizens deserve access to affordable and high-quality healthcare without having to travel out of their communities. Despite the political distractions we are currently facing, our mission remains unchanged. We are here to build, not to be drawn into political squabbles that do nothing to serve the people of Rivers State.”

This pledge, however, comes at a time when Rivers State’s political scene is highly charged. Governor Fubara’s administration has been facing what he described as “fierce political distractions” aimed at hindering progress. Observers note that the opposition has heightened its criticism of Fubara's initiatives, with some accusing him of overpromising. But Fubara remains unshaken, emphasizing that his administration’s focus is squarely on delivering tangible results to the people of Rivers State.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Health Dr. Adaeze Oreh highlighted the substantial work that has already been accomplished at both hospital sites. “These hospitals will set a new standard for zonal healthcare delivery in Rivers,” Dr. Oreh affirmed. “Governor Fubara has shown a commitment to prioritizing healthcare, and we are making every effort to meet the December 2024 deadline. Once completed, these facilities will offer advanced medical services, emergency care, maternal and child health services, and more.”

Fubara’s ambitious healthcare vision aligns closely with his administration’s broader goals, which include not only affordable healthcare but also strengthening education and revitalizing agriculture across Rivers State. The governor has repeatedly underscored his commitment to implementing a “strategic vision of governance” aimed at improving lives across all sectors.

Despite the political attacks, Governor Fubara has urged the public to stay focused on the work his administration is doing. “These attacks only serve to distract us from the bigger picture,” he said. “We are here to serve the people, and nothing will change that. Our focus remains on healthcare, education, and agriculture, which are essential pillars for a prosperous Rivers State.”

The Omoku and Bori Zonal Hospitals, once completed, are expected to significantly boost healthcare delivery in their respective regions. These state-of-the-art facilities promise to reduce travel times for medical emergencies, provide residents with critical healthcare services locally, and decrease healthcare costs for families who currently have limited access to comprehensive medical care.

In his closing remarks, Fubara reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue pushing forward. “This project is bigger than any political agenda,” he said. “It’s about giving back to the people who deserve a government that works for them. We will not waver. December 2024 is our goal, and we will deliver.”
