Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Monday, urged Nigerians to prioritize unity and peace as the bedrock for sustainable development. He emphasized that true progress in the country could only be achieved through harmony, which he described as essential for overcoming national challenges.
The Governor made the call during a courtesy visit by Rabbi Kirt Schneider, an internationally renowned Jewish Christian gospel preacher, at the Government House in Asaba. The meeting highlighted the growing collaboration between Delta State and faith-based organizations in fostering unity and spiritual growth.
Governor Oborevwori, while expressing his gratitude for Rabbi Schneider's visit, praised the preacher for his tireless work in evangelism and soul-winning. He noted that the state's relationship with faith leaders has long been a pillar of strength in promoting peace and unity, essential values in today's turbulent times.
"This visit reaffirms the robust relationship between our government and faith-based organizations," said Governor Oborevwori. "Delta State has been blessed with many men and women of God, and as a Christian and an Elder in the Living Faith Church, I personally welcome anyone who comes to pray and bless our land. Your presence here today is a great blessing, and we are thankful for the work you do in advancing peace and spiritual growth."
The Governor further emphasized that sustainable peace is critical for economic development, stressing that only in an atmosphere of peace could the state and the nation at large thrive. He also expressed confidence that Rabbi Schneider's visit would bring divine blessings to the state, aiding in its continued growth and prosperity.
"Peace is the foundation of all development. Without it, we cannot move forward. I believe that your visit will usher in more blessings for Delta State and for Nigeria as a whole," the Governor said. "I thank you for your prayers for me, our government, and for the entire state. We will continue to work together, trusting that we will overcome our challenges."
Earlier, Rabbi Schneider shared his passion for soul-winning, revealing that he had embarked on a mission to Nigeria for a crusade focused on saving souls and praying for the revival of the nation and the African continent. Reflecting on his spiritual journey, Schneider recounted how an encounter with Jesus more than forty years ago had transformed his life and ministry. Since then, he has preached the gospel in over 200 countries, impacting millions through his dedication to Christ.
The Rabbi also praised Governor Oborevwori for his unwavering faith and for placing God at the center of his governance. He prayed for divine wisdom and strength for the Governor, urging him to remain steadfast in his faith and leadership.
Rabbi Schneider concluded the visit by leading a special prayer session for the state and its leadership, invoking blessings of peace, prosperity, and divine guidance for all.
