Group Accuses Imo APC Chairman Of Imposing Brother-In-Law

A group, Omenwanne has accused the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in Imo State, MacDonald Ebere of imposing his brother-in-law as a councillorship candidate.

According to the group, Ebere imposed Anumudu Bartholomew Chinemere from Ndegwu Community in Owerri West Local Government Area as councillorship candidate of the party for Ohii/Amakohia-Ubi/Ndegwu Ward 9.

The Chairman of the group, Anosike Ejikeme Michaels said Ebere singlehandedly picked Bartholomew as candidate in spite of not being a member of the APC.

Anosike added that Barth has not participated in any activity of the party either at the ward or the local government level before this development.

He revealed that Macdonald's brother-in-law also never joined the councillorship race.

Hear him; "He was not there the day all the aspirants in the ward declared interest to run for the councillorship position or did he later declare interest to run any other day.

"Someone who does not know the Ward Chairman or any leader in the ward".

Anosike further revealed that there were only three aspirants angling for the position in Ward 9 namely Hon Ferdinand, Hon Emma Lagos both from Amakaohia-Ubi and Dr. Ngozi Duru from Ohii and none from Ndegwu where Mr. Barth hails from before he suddenly appeared in the scene with the slogan that he was sent by the state chairman of the party.

He added; "Trouble started as soon as the Governor advised leaders to go to their respective wards to harmonize and come up with consensus candidates.

"MacDonald then saw it as an opportunity to intimidate Ward 9 leaders and impose his brother-in-law on our people while boasting that no leader in Ward 9 has the balls to challenge him.

"It is said that the state chairman and Mr. Bartholomew are married to two sisters from Oru East Local Government Area".

The group called on the state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma to "look into this ugly incident which tends to portray the party, her leadership and the present administration in a bad light.

"It is not late to correct this anomaly. How can the chairman come all the way from Owerri Municipal Council to impose a candidate on an autonomous ward?

The group also urged the governor to call MacDonald to order and do the right thing by selecting a councillorship candidate from the three aspirants that declared interest to run abi nitio.

All efforts to get the state chairman of the APC, MacDonald Ebere to speak on the matter did not yield fruits as he did not return calls or respond to Whatsapp message sent to him.

The state Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke also declined to speak on the issue before press time.
