 Gunmen Kidnap Family of Four in Abuja

A group of kidnappers has abducted four family members in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.


It was learnt that the incident which happened around 1:30 am on Friday occurred at the Tundun Fulani extension area of the Bwari Area Council. 


A resident of the area who spoke to the media outlet stated that the kidnappers forced their way into the family’s home to abduct the victims adding that the kidnappers shot one other person who escaped being abducted. 


 “There was a kidnap incident in Tundun Fulani extension in Bwari around 1:30 am. The kidnappers were many and fully armed. The kidnappers broke into a house and kidnapped four members of the same family. They also shot one person who escaped being kidnapped. “ The Source said.


The FCT command police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh who confirmed the incident said the police were on top of the matter.  He said, “We responded swiftly. We are on top of the situation.”


Cases of kidnapping have been occurring in recent times in Abuja especially in the Bwari area of the FCT. 


Punch in their report said Thirteen persons were kidnapped from Piko, a remote community in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, by suspected gunmen during an invasion of the community on May 8. 


It was also learnt that In July, kidnappers shot a resident of El-Rufai Estate in the Bwari Area of the FCT, identified as Nathaniel, after an attempt to kidnap him was foiled.


The kidnappers had tried to abduct many of the residents before their operation was foiled by the operatives of the FCT police command in collaboration with troops.

Earlier this year, Nigerians on social media began a fundraising campaign as ransom to seek the release of a lady identified as Nabeeha and five of her sisters who were abducted by kidnappers in their house in Abuja on January 2, 2024.


An X.com user Adamu Asiya_, had in the early hours of Wednesday, January 3, 2024, , announced the unfortunate incident. Adamu who identified herself as a cousin to the kidnapped sisters also narrated that her uncle was killed in the process. She later tweeted that one of the sisters was killed by the abductees after a failed attempt to raise the requested amount of N100,000,000
