Hoodlums raid Shops, Church, Homes in Aba

Armed robbers broke into a tailoring shop along Uratta Road in Aba, Abia State, stealing 14 sewing machines (both industrial and manual), cellphones, pressing irons, stoves, and a 3800 kva generator on Friday, 30th August.

Additional items stolen from the shop owner, Mrs. Favour Elijah, included customers' clothing materials awaiting sewing, 10 scissors, and various other valuables, with a total estimated value exceeding N12 million.

Reports reveal that the robbers targeted multiple locations beyond the initial shop. They broke into a branch of the Deeper Christian Life Church, stealing musical equipment and other valuables. Additionally, they hit a provision store, making off with goods valued at N750,000. The robbers also vandalized the Ekeoha Ward health center in Obuda Aba, forcibly removing iron protectors and several roofing sheets from the center’s main building.

Narrating her harrowing experience with the hoodlums, Mrs. Elijah was heartbroken and devastated, feeling as though all her life's efforts had been wiped out in an instant.

She expressed the immense pain of the loss, saying, "I can't even begin to describe the agony. Everything I've worked for is gone in one sweep. How do I face my customers whose belongings have been stolen?" She pleaded with the government and security forces to assist her by locating and apprehending the perpetrators.

Similarly, Mrs. Doris Chineke, who operates a provision store at No. 17 Edo Street in the same area, reported that the robbers broke into her shop and stole goods valued at N750,000. Mrs. Chineke, an elderly woman struggling to make ends meet, lamented that the criminals had denied her the chance to benefit from her hard work.

The victims have reported the incidents to the authorities and are hoping for a positive response. They have also appealed for assistance during these difficult times to help them recover and stand on their feet again.
