Hon Ihezuo submitted that if nothing was urgently done to remedy the situation, teaching and learning would cease at the two schools.

Hon. Ihezuo who is the Chairman House Committee on Judiciary noted that Governor Uzodimma known for his love for children and education would have come to the aid of the schools if his attention had been drawn to the plight of the pupils and teachers.

He said; "The governor is very passionate about schools. He loves children and he is very passionate about the academics of school children.

"This is the only administration that has made St Joseph junction, close to schools, motorable after many years of abandonment by past government.

"Unfortunately, flood has taken over the schools thereby making it impossible for pupils to attend classes and with hoodlums loitering in the school premises, the situation therefore requires a critical attention".

The lawmaker urged his colleagues to support his motion to safeguard the future of pupils in the two schools.

The motion co-sponsored by eight other members was seconded by member representing Orlu State Constituency, Hon. Uche Francis Agabige.

Six other members namely Hon Chigozie Nwaneri (Oru East); Hon Innocent Ikpamezie(Mbaitoli); Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi (Owerri West); Hon James Esile(Onulmo) and Hon Sam Osuji(Isiala Mbano) spoke in support of the motion.

They agreed that drawing the attention of the governor to the plight of the schools was germane for the needful to be done.

Elated by the contributions and support of the lawmakers to the motion, the Speaker, Hon Chike Olemgbe(Ihitte-Uboma) put it to vote and the motion was unanimously adopted.

Hon Olemgbe thereafter directed the Clerk Barr Chinelo Emeghara to communicate to the governor the resolution of the House which is that the governor directs relevant agencies to rescue the flood-ravaged Central Schools 1 & 2 in Umuna Orlu Local Government Area of the state.
