Nigerian TV host, filmmaker, and photographer Frank Edoho, widely recognized as the face of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, has shared candid details about his first marriage. In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Edoho spoke about how the marriage began, the factors that led to it, and the reasons behind its eventual breakdown.
Frank Edoho revealed that his relationship with his first wife, Katherine Obiang, started during their dating years. During this period, Katherine became pregnant, and Frank, who was still quite young, admitted he initially developed cold feet about the idea of marriage. Reflecting on his state of mind at the time, he confessed he knew little about being either a husband or a father. Despite his fears and uncertainties, he decided to marry Katherine.
Recounting the experience, he said, “I was so young when I got her pregnant, and thoughts of marrying her made me develop cold feet. We got married, but in the end, we weren’t compatible.”
Frank further explained that their marriage, which produced three children, eventually unraveled due to incompatibility. After years of trying to make it work, the couple decided to part ways in 2011. Their separation marked the end of what he now describes as a union between two people who were not well-suited for each other.
The host reflected on his youthful inexperience at the time, emphasizing that his lack of readiness for marriage was a significant factor in the challenges they faced. While the marriage may not have lasted, Frank and Katherine have both moved forward with their lives.
Though Frank didn’t delve deeply into the details of their incompatibility, his honesty highlights the complexities of relationships that often begin with unexpected circumstances. His reflections also underscore the importance of self-awareness and mutual understanding in the foundation of any long-lasting union.
Frank Edoho’s story serves as a reminder of the lessons learned through personal experiences, particularly in matters of marriage and parenting. As someone who has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, he continues to inspire through his professional success while candidly sharing insights from his personal journey.
