Iwuanyanwu Bows Out In A Blaze Of Glory


It was a roll call of who-is-who at Atta Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State on Friday November 1, 2024 when the remains of late Igbo leader, Chief (Dr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was laid to rest.


Among the eminent persons at the funeral service held at the St James Anglican Cathedral Atta was President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.


Others were President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, represented by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State and Peter Mbah of Enugu State.


The Governors of Anambra State Soludo and his Ebonyi counterpart, Nwifuru Nwifuru were represented by their deputies.


Other dignitaries who also graced the occasion included the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu and a good number of members of the Green chambers, former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, many former Governors, deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady (Dr) Chinyere Ekomaru, Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Chike Olemgbe, members of the Imo House of Assembly and members of Imo State Expanded Executive Council.


The Chairman, Imo State Traditional Institution and Community Policing, Eze E.C Okeke, Chairman Imo State Council of Elders, Eze C.I Ilomuanya and Dr. ABC Orjiako were also present.


Past Governors from many states of the Federation, leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo from different parts of the world, serving and past ministers, captains of industry and infact people from all walks of life.


They were unanimous in their assertion that it would be a herculean task to recount the legacies the Ahaejiagamba left behind, as well as the fact that he left behind, a very large shoe that will be too big for anyone to wear.


They also promised the quest for good governance, full integration of the Igbo Nation in the Nigerian polity, as well as the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was realizable.


Meanwhile, the remains of the late Chief Iwuanyanwu was earlier received at the Imo State Government House, by the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.


Gov Uzodimma extolled the virtues of the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, describing him as great leader who contributed unquantifiably to the development of Imo State and Nigeria.


Earlier the first son of the deceased, Mr Jidechukwu Iwuanyanwu told the Governor that the remains of his father was brought to the Government House as a leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.


From Imo State Government House, the body of late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was taken to the Cathedral of Transfiguration of Our Lord CATOL Owerri, for a commendation service. The Governor of Imo state read the only lesson from the Bible.
