Iwuanyanwu Goes Home November 1

The burial of late elder statesman and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu (Ahaejiagamba) has been fixed for Friday November 1, 2024.


The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the funeral ceremony announced this at a press briefing held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in Owerri, the Imo State capital.


According to the Local Organizing Committee's Chairman, Chief Charles Amadi (Charlvon), activities lined up for the burial ceremony would commence on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 with a Service of Songs at the deceased 's hometown Atta in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.


Chief Amadi said at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 the body of the deceased would be received by the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma at the Government House, Owerri.


According to Chief Amadi, at 11:00am, same day, his body would be received by the management and staff of Hardel and Enic Group at its office at Glass House Complex at Orji in Owerri North Local Government Area and thereafter the body would depart to his residence at New Owerri at 12:00 noon.


Chief Amadi added that at 8:00am on Friday, November 1, 2024 there would be a commendation service at Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL), along Samek Road, Owerri, from where the body would proceed to his hometown with flag stops at Hardel Junction, Eke Atta Market and Atta Junction respectively.


Charlvon stated that at 11:00am, the body would lie in state in his country home, Atta, Ikeduru Local Government Area.


The LOC Chairman further disclosed that the funeral service which will hold at St. Mathew's Catholic Church, Atta, would commence at 12: 00noon while interment would follow immediately after service.


The committee also announced that there would be adequate security and free flow of traffic while the ceremony lasted.


Recall that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu died at a hospital in the Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja on August 25, 2024 after a brief illness. He was aged 82 years.


He took over as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, after the demise of Professor George Obiozor, who also died while in same office.


The demise of Chief Iwuanyanwu is being mourned across Igboland owing his fight for emancipation of the race especially at the twilight of earthly existence.
