In a bid to cushion the effects of economic challenges and support vulnerable residents, Barrister Jibril Ibrahim Jimeta, Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, today flagged off the distribution of relief materials in Jimeta. The initiative, which aligns with the directive of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, seeks to provide essential food items to residents in all 11 wards of Yola North.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Vice Chairperson, Hon. Sarah Samuel; Council Secretary, Hon. Maulud Ishaq; Chief of Staff, Mohammed Modibbo; District Heads; Supervisory Councilors; and representatives of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and the Local Emergency Management Agency (LEMA).
Speaking during the flag-off, Hon. Jibril Ibrahim reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to alleviating the economic burden faced by residents. “The economic realities we face today are challenging for many families. This distribution effort is a clear demonstration of the government’s resolve to support its citizens in these trying times. I urge all stakeholders and community members to collaborate and ensure the smooth execution of this initiative,” he said.
The Chairman also commended Governor Fintiri for his visionary leadership, which prioritizes the welfare of the people. “We are fortunate to have a governor who genuinely cares about the well-being of his people. His Excellency’s directive on this relief program underscores his dedication to addressing the hardships of our citizens,” he added.
Vice Chairperson Hon. Sarah Samuel echoed similar sentiments, describing the initiative as a lifeline for many households. “This program will go a long way in providing relief to families struggling to make ends meet. It is a testament to the government’s commitment to putting the people first,” she remarked.
The distribution, which includes essential food items such as rice, maize, and other staples, is set to reach thousands of households across Yola North’s wards. The Chief of Staff, Mohammed Modibbo, highlighted the importance of transparency and fairness in the process, emphasizing that every eligible resident will benefit.
District Heads and Supervisory Councilors present at the event pledged their support in ensuring equitable distribution, promising to work closely with local officials to identify and reach the most vulnerable residents.
