Just In: Ex US President, Jimmy Carter Passes Away At 100

Jimmy Carter, a former U.S. president and global humanitarian icon, has passed away at the age of 100.

His death marks the end of a century-long journey devoted to public service, human rights, and the pursuit of peace.

It was reported that Carter died peacefully on December 29, 2024, in Plains, Georgia, the small town where he was born and spent much of his life.

Surrounded by his family, the statement announcing his passing hailed him as the longest-lived U.S. president and a transformative figure who redefined post-presidential impact.

Chip Carter, his son, called his father “a hero” and highlighted his unwavering dedication to peace and human rights.

“My father taught the world that leadership is rooted in love and selflessness,” he said. Reflecting on Carter’s lifelong ability to connect with people across the globe, Chip added that; “The world is our family because of how he brought people together.”

Born in Georgia in 1924, Carter ascended from his roots as a peanut farmer to becoming the 39th president of the United States. Elected in 1976, his presidency focused on healing a post-Watergate America and championing progressive issues like environmental conservation and human rights. His landmark achievements included the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel, though his term faced challenges such as inflation and the Iran hostage crisis.

Defeated by Ronald Reagan in 1980, Carter’s post-presidential life became a beacon of hope and service. In 2002, he earned the Nobel Peace Prize for efforts ranging from brokering peace deals to eradicating diseases like guinea worm through The Carter Center. His innovative vision set a new benchmark for how former presidents could influence the world beyond politics.

After the death of his wife, Rosalynn Carter, in November 2023, Jimmy Carter’s health waned, and he transitioned to hospice care. Yet, even in his final months, his spirit remained indomitable, a testament to a life spent uplifting others.

Carter’s legacy is reflected in the countless lives he touched, whether through his humanitarian work, advocacy for democracy, or hands-on efforts with Habitat for Humanity. His philosophy of service extended well beyond his tenure in Washington, shaping the lives of ordinary citizens worldwide.

Jimmy Carter’s passing signals not just the loss of a former leader but the departure of a moral compass in an increasingly complex world. While he has left us, his unwavering belief in the power of compassion and unity continues to inspire generations.
