Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved the creation of two new Judicial Divisions, ‘The Abua Judicial Division’ in Abua-Odual Local Government Area and ‘The Bonny Judicial Division’ in Bonny Local Government Area.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing access to justice, especially for residents in remote areas who previously had to travel long distances to access High Court services.
Governor Fubara emphasized that the primary objective of these new divisions is to address the challenges of accessibility and reduce the burden of long travel times for citizens seeking legal recourse. With this development, the total number of Judicial Divisions in Rivers State has now increased to (14) fourteen, further decentralizing the judiciary and making legal services more accessible to people across the state.
This expansion is seen as a significant step in improving the efficiency and accessibility of the justice system, especially for residents in rural and underserved communities, ultimately aiming to reduce delays and promote equitable access to justice.
