The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KwSUBEB) has launched a ground-breaking recruitment drive, aiming to fill 1,611 teaching and non-teaching positions across the state's 16 local government areas.
This ambitious initiative, approved by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, seeks to address critical shortages and revitalize the state's education sector.
According to Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, the recruitment drive is a response to a thorough needs assessment conducted in the local government education authorities (LGEAs), and has received the approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The initiative seeks to fill vacancies arising from retirements, deaths, and transfers to other states. To ensure effective deployment, the recruitment will be community-based, with successful candidates required to commit to service in their assigned areas for at least five years by signing a bond.
The comprehensive recruitment exercise will focus on hiring highly qualified candidates, including 695 B.Ed degree holders, 605 NCE holders, 200 security guards, and 111 additional non-teaching staff.
A thorough needs assessment informed the recruitment drive, ensuring that successful candidates are deployed to areas where their expertise is most needed.
To tackle teacher relocation from rural areas, KwSUBEB has introduced a five-year bond, committing candidates to their initial posting. This community-based approach will strengthen education services at the grassroots level, aligning with Governor AbdulRazaq's vision for a revitalized educational sector.
The recruitment exercise, spanning three weeks, will enable timely placements before the new academic year commences in September 2024. This proactive step underscores the Kwara State Government's dedication to enhancing education quality, accessibility, and equity.
