The Nigerian Police Force, Zone 16 with Headquarter in Yenegoa, has arrested a male suspect for parading himself as a medical practitioner in the state without a medical license.
The suspect, one Doubra Mxmilian, who parades himself as a medical doctor, administers treatment under the name Maximilian Medical Centre located at Etegwe Epie in Yenagoa, since 2019 till date, where surprisingly, residents in the state often visit his facility for the treatment of different kinds of sicknesses and diseases.
His operations came to a halt when the Nigerian Police Force, Zone 16, arrested him on August 26, 2024, on the directives of the surveillance and intelligence unit from the zonal criminal investigation department following intelligence reports gathered over time as regards his quark operations.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gunn Emonena, affirmed the Force’s readiness and commitment under the leadership of the AIG Paul Alifa Omata to protect lives and properties of the people of Rivers and Bayelsa states, while also advocating for compliance from the members of the public to provide timely information that will aid apprehension of criminals in the state.
In his statement, he said : “The said suspect was arrested on the 25th of August, 2024 by detectives of Surveillance and Intelligence from the State Criminal Investigation Department,”
"During the execution of search, injection syringes, drugs, hospital equipment, an enlarged photograph of his fake convocation, hospital folders and 200 copies of image/ultrasound reports were recovered,
“The suspect was apprehended and has equally confessed to the commission of various offences ranging from being a fake medical doctor, operation of illegal medical facility, forgery and impersonation.
The suspect when interviewed by journalists and interrogated by the police, confessed to the criminal charges leveled against him by the Nigerian Police Force.
Some of the victims of the suspect , who are mostly women who have undergone treatment from him and have been deceived over the years, narrated their sad ordeal in the hands of the suspect, noting that they were played by the fake doctor without them knowing.
According to reports made available to the public, the suspect will be put in prison after the court declares him guilty.
