NDDC Set To Commence Internship Scheme

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has called on stakeholders and youths who applied for the youth internship scheme to exercise patience as the Commission works assiduously to ensure a fair selection process.

In a statement on their verified Facebook page on Thursday 12 of September, the Commission noted that it is on course to fulfilling it’s plan of engaging qualified youths in the internship scheme, adding that the process would be concluded soon.

The Commission also stated the process of selecting qualified candidates has been tedious owing to the large number of applications received on its portal when the registration opened on August 5, 2024.

The statement reads: “We are diligently working to ensure a transparent and fair selection process. We want all concerned to appreciate the fact that over 2million youths registered in our designated portal between August 5 2024, when it closed.

Further, the Commission stressed the need for applicants and the general public to be weary of false information and those parading themselves as officials of the Commission who may provide unverified information about the youth internship scheme. It also reiterated its commitment      to a fair selection process.

“The fraudsters spreading false information about the youth internship scheme are also demanding personal information and payment of an acceptance fee.

Please, note that the NDDC does not require any fees or payments for the placement of qualified youths in its internship programme.

We wish to clarify that no such list has been collated, approved or released and any claim to the contrary is false. Those who registered for the scheme should note that the process of selection is on-going.

“We urge all stakeholders to disregard any misinformation or unfounded claims regarding the NDDC youth internship scheme. Be rest assured that we are committed to transparency and integrity throughout the selection process. Any unauthorized post other than the NDDC official channel should be disregarded.

Recall that in August, the NDDC launched the Youth Internship Scheme aimed at training ten thousand youths in various skills.

Launching the Scheme in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Chairman Board of NDDC, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, said that the scheme would run for one year and the beneficiaries of the scheme are to be trained in technology, automobile, maritime, Arts among others.

This is inline with the Commission's effort to tackle unemployment and youth restiveness  as youth unemployment in the region stood at 42 percent.
