The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman announced on Thursday that a new curriculum for secondary schools nationally would be implemented by September 2024.
Tahir announced this during the ongoing 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board policy meeting in Abuja.
"We are working hard to ensure that a new curriculum is introduced for secondary schools by September," Mamman told reporters.
Mamman stated that the exercise has been ongoing for the past year, and a stakeholders meeting will be conducted on August 6, 2024.
"It is our plan that by September, this programme will be implemented in all schools, public and private," stated the minister of education.
The National Senior Secondary School Education Commission recently condemned the country's poor status of senior secondary schools and asked for collaboration to tackle some of the difficulties confronting secondary education.
The panel identified some of the sector's issues, including an infrastructure shortage, unqualified teachers, outdated curricula, and poor libraries and laboratories.
