Nigerian actress and comedian Wofai Egu Ewa popularly known as Wofai Fada has officially married her partner, Taiwo Cole.
Wofai announced the news in a post on her Instagram account late Sunday night.
Sharing photos from their civil ceremony at the Ikoyi Registry, the comedian wrote; “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite. Legally hitched. @taiwo.cole.7, #TWOforever, #MrsCole, forever to go.”
This legal wedding follows months of public controversy after videos from their traditional wedding in Calabar, Cross River, surfaced in May. Shortly after the traditional ceremony, Taiwo’s family issued a public statement denouncing the union.
“This serves to notify all acquaintances, family, and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, are not aware of any marriage ceremony involving our son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole, nor did we grant permission or support in this regard.”
“As such, person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole family by virtue of this purported event are neither known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this should be disregarded,” the family statement stated.
Despite the family’s position, Wofai posted a video captioned “Let love lead” on her Instagram page, where she has over 1million followers, amidst the controversy surrounding her marriage to Taiwo Cole.
However, amidst the chaos, Kehinde Cole, the twin sister of Wofai’s husband, congratulated the couple, despite her family’s disapproval.
“Congratulations to my twin brother and my new sister in love, your union is blessed with love,” she posted on X on Sunday.
Wofai, gained popularity for her comedic skits on Instagram, and has successfully cemented her presence in the Nigerian entertainment industry over the years. The actress has appeared in several films, including 'Oloture', 'Blood Sisters', and 'New Money.
She is a Nigerian Comedian, actress, entrepreneur, and social media influencer. She is popularly known for chairing dialogues focused on Changing the African Narratives and Television Broadcasting.
The Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, have recently become the centre of attention on the internet. Taiwo Cole, a member of the esteemed clan, tied the knot with actress and comedian Wofai Ewa, popularly known as Wofai Fada.
Their traditional union took place in Ugep, Cross River State, but it had remained secretive, hidden from the public eye.
