NUJ Executive Council  Appoints  Coordinator of IIJ Yenagoa

The Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State chapter, has announced the appointment of Dr. Ikiemoye Iniamagha as the Interim Coordinator of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Yenagoa Study Centre.


The decision, approved by the council under the leadership of Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, was disclosed in a statement on November 25, 2024 signed by the Council's Secretary, Comrade Imgbi G. Stanley.


The statement confirmed that Mr. Roland Elekele has been relieved of his position as the Coordinator of the IIJ Yenagoa Study Centre.


In line with the transition, Mr. Elekele has been directed to hand over all official documents and assets in his possession to the newly appointed Interim Coordinator without delay.


Dr. Iniamagha, a seasoned academic and media professional, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.


The Statement added that He currently serves as a lecturer in Communication Skills at the Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa, and is also a broadcast journalist with Radio Nigeria Creek FM, Yenagoa.


The Statement further said over the years, Dr. Iniamagha has distinguished himself in the field of journalism, earning accolades such as Best Newscaster Radio and Best Presenter Radio at the Bayelsa Media Awards.


His academic qualifications include a Certificate in Mass Communication, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Linguistics and Communication Studies, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in International Communication and Development, and a Doctorate in English and Communication Arts.


The council expressed confidence in Dr. Iniamagha's capacity to lead the study centre effectively, ensuring it continues to uphold the high standards of journalism training for which the International Institute of Journalism is known.


The Statement reads" The Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State, led by Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, has approved the appointment of Dr Ikiemoye Iniamagha as the Interim Coordinator of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Yenagoa Study Centre."


" Dr Ikiemoye Iniamagha, who is a lecturer of Communication Skills at the Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa, is also a Broadcast Journalist with Radio Nigeria Creek FM, Yenagoa.



"Dr. Iniamagha holds a Certificate in Mass Communication, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Linguistics and Communication Studies, MA in International Communication and Development and a Doctorate in English and Communication Art. "


The leadership transition at the IIJ Yenagoa Study Centre is anticipated to pave the way for innovative developments under Dr. Iniamagha’s stewardship.
