In Ogun State, Nigeria, a tragic incident unfolded at Obada Idi-Emi High School in Imeko Afon Local Government, where a student, Ariyo, passed away following a severe punishment involving 162 frog jumps and 24 cane strokes.
The incident reportedly started when a teacher asked students not to damage a classroom dustbin. After Ariyo jokingly commented that the dustbin was funded by students, the teacher reported him to the principal, who allegedly ordered a physical punishment.
Eyewitnesses claimed delays in medical attention worsened Ariyo’s condition. He was later pronounced dead at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta. Authorities are investigating the tragic incident as community members demand justice.
