ONDO GUBER 2024: Ganduje Targets 90% Votes, Rallies South-West APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, has called on party leaders in Ondo State to unite and ensure victory in the upcoming governorship election on November 16.

Ganduje made this appeal during the South-West APC Governors’ Forum Stakeholders Meeting, held on Sunday in Akure, the state capital. Present at the meeting were the governors of Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo, while the Ogun State governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.

Speaking at the gathering, Ganduje expressed confidence in the turnout of party leaders and urged them to put behind any grievances from the party’s primaries and rally around the APC candidate ahead of the election.

“Our mission is to assure you that the party stands solidly behind you. All stakeholders at the national level are being coordinated to ensure a successful election in Ondo State," Ganduje said. He emphasized the importance of unity, adding, "We are here to motivate and support you because success in this election is non-negotiable. We expect a 90 percent victory. Ensure you know those who should vote at each polling unit. We are confident in Tinubu’s leadership.”

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who doubles as Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, also appealed to party members to put aside past disagreements and focus on the state’s future and the party’s progress. He commended aspirants from the April 20 APC primary for their cooperation and urged them to unite for the party's victory in the upcoming election.

Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji highlighted the significance of the election, being the first under President Bola Tinubu's administration in the South-West, and called on all stakeholders to work together for success.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, expressed gratitude for the support and assured that all suggestions from the meeting would be addressed. He also thanked APC leaders, including the aspirants from the April primary, for their dedication.

Other notable figures at the meeting included Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, APC elder statesman Pa Tajudeen Olusi, and some co-contestants from the party primary, such as Chief Olusola Oke, Isaacs Kekemeke, and Wale Akinterinwa, all of whom pledged their support for the party's victory.

Former political associates of ex-Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who recently defected to APC from the PDP, were also present, with former House of Representatives member Hon. Joseph Akinlaja leading the group.
