Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has stated that the ongoing Umuahia Terminal Bus Project will generate significant revenue in the future.
Governor Otti made this statement during an inspection visit to the project site on Sunday where he also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing construction.
The governor detailed that the project will effectively organize the capital city and eliminate the numerous scattered parks. He also noted that the development will attract many businesses due to the planned inclusion of hotels, shopping plazas, playgrounds, and more.
He emphasized that the most crucial aspect is for the Capital City to truly reflect its status as a capital.
Describing the features and goals of the Transport Terminal, Otti noted that it mirrors a similar project in Oshodi, Lagos State, and aims to replicate that success in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State.
He explained, “We aim to replicate exactly what was done in Oshodi. This will be the hub for railways and buses, with shopping centers, hotels, and recreational areas including playgrounds, all designed to be a place where people can gather, meet, and enjoy themselves.”
Alex Otti has directed the contractor overseeing the Umuahia mega bus terminal project to expand the surrounding roads to facilitate smoother vehicular traffic.
He also expressed satisfaction with the pace of the ongoing construction on site.
He remarked, “I believe the contractors are performing very well and are adhering to the schedule, as they have a strong track record of excellent work.”
However, he noted that there were a few areas where the contractor needed to make minor adjustments.
“I believe the contractors are performing very well and are adhering to the schedule, as they have a strong track record of excellent work", He added.

He assured Abians that his administration would maintain its focus on prioritizing the welfare of the people, emphasizing that putting the people first is the core principle guiding his leadership.
“We believe that a government worth its name must prioritize the welfare of the people, and that’s exactly what we promised and are delivering. When we address salary arrears left by previous administrations, it’s not due to excess funds but because we believe every worker deserves their due wages.
"Our guiding principle in this government is to put the people first. In the past, government resources were often hoarded by a select few, but we are committed to ensuring that the money in Abia is used for the benefit of all, not just a privileged few.”
