Prioritize Welfare Of Women, APC Women Leader Tells Minister


The National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Mary Alile Idele, has charged the newly appointed Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, to prioritize the implementation and establishment of policies and strategies focused on improving the livelihood of women across the country.


This is according to a statement released today, Thursday, the 26th of October 2024.


The woman leader also urged the minister to prioritize support for vulnerable and highly in need women across the country.


“I urge you to work towards implementing policies that combat gender-based violence and support vulnerable women in the country.”


She added that, “Her appointment is not only a victory for women in Nigeria but also a testament to President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and the APC’s commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in our society.”


“Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s extensive experience and unwavering commitment to women’s issues make her the ideal candidate for this critical role, and I urge all stakeholders to rally behind her so she can deliver on her mandate"


 She hinted that women lawyers seek clergies involvement in combating gender-based violence.


She also expressed confidence in Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s capacity to set up and facilitate policies that will significantly enhance and improve on the welfare and empowerment of women across the country.


Speaking further, she called on key stakeholders and Nigerian women to put hands together and support the Federal Minister of Women Affairs, Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, in her efforts to promote women’s inclusion and to fulfil her mandate.


She also emphasized on the importance of visionary leadership in addressing the numerous challenges faced by women and girls across the country.


The National Women Leader further encouraged the Minister to leverage her position to champion initiatives and activities that would provide women with greater access to education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and other great benefits.


She also encouraged all stakeholders to support the new minister in her endeavours to uplift women and ensure their voices are heard in the corridors of power nationwide.


“Once again, congratulations to Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim on this well-deserved appointment. The APC looks forward to seeing her impactful leadership in the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs,” she said.
