A video of the arrival of the Nigerian singer and songwriter Divine Ikubor, popularly know as ‘Rema’ has made its rounds online.
The video shared, showed when the singer’s plane touched down Benin Airport, in his hometown to the large crowd of excited fans.
The award winning star was given a grand welcome as he arrived Benin City for his long anticipated homecoming concert, that is slated for Friday August 30th, 2024.
A few indigenous persons were seen, dressed in their Edo traditional attire, dancing and chanting happily as they approached the ‘Ozeba’ crooner with bouquet of flowers.
Rema was indeed thrilled, as he expressed gratitude to them for the warm welcome and reception he was given.
The afrobeat artist, has been on a global tour and he is broadly known for his electrifying stage presence and thrilling performances. His arrival to his hometown has sparked so many reactions online.
Rema has once more, made waves in recent times wit his new sound and also with the announcement of his album concert, coming up on August 30th 2024.
Recall that sometime in 2020, Rema tweeted, the singer expressed his thoughts to Governor Obaseki, revealing that the Edo State Governor is the only person who can make him come perform in Benin.
“Gov.Obaseki, Governor of Edo state. Your victory party was the last place I performed as an upcoming artist after you won the election 4 years ago. This is 4 years later, you won the election again and I’m a star now. You’re the only one that can call me back HOME”.
In his announcement of his homecoming album show “HEIS” it featured the appearance of the Edo state Governor, Gov. Godwin Obaseki and this sparked reactions from fans and political community.
The supposed Homecoming concert, ready to take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, has recently been the talk of the town for weeks with fans and netizens eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see their hometown star boy perform live.
This concert is expected to draw a very large crowd to the venue and enhance the tourism potential of a state with a outstanding reputation for preserving culture.
