Rivers Crisis : Uncertainty Looms over post LGA election violence

There is a little uncertainty in Rivers State as the new Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bala Mustapha, is yet to speak on the security issues bothering the local government areas and the directive given by President Bola Tinubu for the provision of security in all the council Secretariat.

Some LGAs in the state were thrown into chaos on Monday, after the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, withdrew officers of the force from all the 23 council Secretariats, leading to gunshots with some persons feared dead. Some council Secretariats were also razed by fire.

However, after the directive by President Tinubu, which was conveyed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the people in the state are uncertain of how the police would handle the President's directive. Information gathered says the State Commissioner of Police will speak on the directive today.

Can this problem in Rivers be settled?
