S/Court Upholding Stolen Mandate Is Embarrassing -Anyanwu

The Governorship Candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has described as most embarrassing the Supreme Court verdict affirming the re-election of state Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Senator Anyanwu popularly called Samdaddy said he would have challenged the verdict of the apex court had there been a higher court to do so.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha and made available on Saturday, Samdaddy maintained that since the Supreme Court is the final arbiter in the case, he has no other option than to hand everything to God whom he described as the most unbiased judge.

He regretted how the Supreme Court, after seeing all the discrepancies, falsification of results, indiscriminate hijack of election materials and abuse of people's rights by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Senator Uzodimma still went ahead to validate the stolen mandate.

Senator Anyanwu said the task at hand at the moment was for him to galvanize the PDP in the state.

He expressed optimism that the efforts so far put in place were enough to resuscitate the party.

He commended the PDP members and Imo people for coming out en masse to vote for the party during the last gubernatorial election.

Samdaddy urged his supporters to remain focused and steadfast in the pursuit of their political goals.

Anyanwu who is the National Secretary of the party assured party members of a possible turnaround, stating that the persons that would pilot the affairs of the party in the state were enough to stabilize the party and positively impact on its programmes.

Recall that the Supreme Court on August 23, threw away the appeals filed by the PDP candidate and his Labour Party, LP counterpart Senator Athan Nneji Achonu challenging the judgement of the Appeal Court upholding the reelection of Governor Uzodimma.

Gov Uzodimma had after the election which held on November 11, 2023 described other contestants in the poll as mere participants instead of opponents.

But his Orlu Zone through Orlu Political Consultative Assembly OPOCA led by his Commissioner for Transportation Rex Anunobi almost went berserk in the course of the litigations threatening to thwart the Imo Charter of Equity if the two other zones of Owerri and Okigwe did not prevail on Senators Anyanwu and Achonu to withdraw their petitions.
