SHOCKING U-TURN: Actress Halima Abubakar Apologises to Johnson Suleman

Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar has publicly apologized to Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, for defamatory comments she made against him.

In a statement posted on her Instagram account on Wednesday, Abubakar acknowledged that her previous remarks were "false and hurtful."

The actress expressed deep regret for the pain caused by her allegations, extending her plea for forgiveness to Suleman and his family.

She explained that her apology came after a period of "deep reflection and conscience."

"I am writing today to acknowledge the falsehoods I spread about you on social media and to offer my sincere apology," her statement read.

"After thorough reflection and to bring peace to my conscience with God, I have realized the gravity of the harm, pain, and distress caused by my false statements. I admit to making unfounded allegations against you, and I deeply regret the damage inflicted on you, your wife, Dr. Mrs. Lizzy Suleman, your family, and the leaders of Omega Fire Ministries.

" With this letter, I humbly seek your forgiveness, fully aware that my apology cannot undo the harm and pain caused.

"I ask you to find it in your heart to forgive me, as I was not thinking clearly at the time. Sir, you have done much for humanity; please extend your hands of forgiveness to me," she further stated.

Recall that the actress had accused Apostle Suleman on social media in 2022 of having a romantic relationship with her, leading to threats of legal action from the cleric over the "defamatory statements."

The controversy escalated in 2023 when the actress claimed she had been pregnant three times by Suleman.

Meanwhile, in April, a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled in favor of Apostle Suleman, ordering Abubakar to pay N10 million in damages for defamation.

The court also issued an injunction preventing her from making further defamatory statements against the clergy man.
