Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has vehemently denied bribery claims made by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
The controversy began when Otse leaked a viral recording in which Bobrisky allegedly accused unnamed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officers of extorting N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges.
“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating online that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison,” he wrote. “I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.”
On September 24, 2024, the EFCC formally invited both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan for questioning regarding the bribery allegations against the Commission's personnel. The situation escalated after the viral video claimed that Bobrisky had made payments to EFCC officers to influence the dismissal of serious charges against him.
Previously, Bobrisky faced six charges related to money laundering and naira abuse, amounting to over N127 million. He was sentenced to six months in prison without the option of a fine for financially extravagant behavior at public events. Although significant payments were traced to his company’s account, charges were later dropped following a reported agreement between Bobrisky and the EFCC.
As the investigation unfolds, both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan are under scrutiny, with the public eager for clarity on these explosive allegations.
